Dr. Yap Suet Li is an accomplished Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist currently practicing at Borneo Medical Centre Kuching and Hospital Umum Sarawak (on a sessional basis). She brings over a decade of expertise in paediatric nephrology, having completed her MRCPCH (UK) in 2014 and specialized training in Paediatric Nephrology between 2018 and 2021 at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban. She holds a National Specialist Register (NSR) number 134104.

Dr. Yap began her tenure as a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Hospital Umum Sarawak in September 2021, a role she held until March 2024 before transitioning to Borneo Medical Centre. In addition to her clinical work, she is a dedicated researcher, contributing significantly to the field of paediatric nephrology through a range of impactful projects and studies.

Her research portfolio includes projects on acute kidney injury, renal replacement therapy, and prophylactic antibiotic use in pediatric procedures. She is the coordinating investigator for the ongoing DRAGON study, and her work has been published in renowned journals, such as Kidney International Reports, Journal of Clinical and Translational Nephrology, and Paediatric Nephrology. Dr. Yap has also presented her findings at prominent conferences, including the Asian Congress of Paediatric Nephrology.

She has delivered national and state-level talks, including her notable presentation on Nephrotic Syndrome and Acute Kidney Injury at the Sarawak Paediatric Update 2019.

Dr. Yap’s extensive experience, research contributions, and commitment to pediatric nephrology make her a distinguished figure in the field, particularly in the management and treatment of kidney-related conditions in children.

Dr Sharon Anne Khor Keat Sim graduated as a medical doctor in 2000 from University Malaya and completed Masters of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2008 at the same university. She specialises in providing spinal rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, paediatric rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation and oncology rehabilitation.She was responsible for setting up the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine in Hospital Sultan Ismail Johor Bahru in 2009 and heads the department. She was appointed as the Johor State Advisor for Rehabilitation Medicine Services since 2010. She is also a visiting consultant rehabilitation physician in KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital.

Dr Yusma Asni is a rehabilitation specialist who is currently the Head of Department Rehabilitation Medicine Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) , Kuantan, Pahang, She graduated from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and subsequently obtained her Masters of Rehabilitation Medicine (MRehabMed) from University of Malaya.

She was the past vice president for Spina Bifida Association Malaysia (SIBIAM) Pantai Timur as well as on the panel of medical advisors in 2018. Dr Yusma was also a past member of the social committee of International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) in 2016. She also actively participates as a member of the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) for HTAA.

Dr. Srihari Singaravel is a Senior Consultant Pediatric Urologist & Paediatric Surgeon in University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. His expertise is in Pediatric Urology, Neurogenic bladder, Hypospadias, Childhood urinary Incontinence and Dysfunctional voiding. He is running several multidisciplinary clinics namely combined clinics for children with SB /Paediatric: Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Rehabilitation, Combined Nephro -Urology clinics for complex urological problems, and Video Urodynamics and Uroflow EMG for ages from 3 months old till adolescence at UMMC.

Dr Selva Kumar has been a Paediatric Nephrologist, since 2005 PAG Dr Selvakumar is the co-chairperson of the District Action Group on Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (DASH), which was inaugurated in August 2018. He is currently working in Selayang Hospital as the Head of Department.

He was intimately involved with SB patients for almost a decade while service as a Paediatric Nephrologist in the East Coast. He is also the Vice President of Malaysian Paediatric Association and Treasurer of Asia Pacific Paediatric Assocation.

Professor Madya Dr. Rashidah Ismail @ Ohnmar Htwe is a senior consultant Rehabilitation Medicine Physician from the Rehabilitation Medicine Unit, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine, University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)/ Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), previously known as Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUKM). She has been working in PPUKM since Nov’2006 and her main interest is in paediatric and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. She is actively involved in managing spina Bifida children with various disabilities. She is one of the core team member of joint spina bifida clinic team in HCTM/PPUKM and multidisciplinary team discussion is regularly conducted once a month together with paediatric neurologist, paediatric nephrologist, psychologist and allied health professionals.

Till date, she has delivered over 120 invited talks and published over 60 scientific papers in both national and international journals including basic sciences, biomechanics, clinical trial papers. She is also a co-author for the textbook chapter on “Follow up after spinal cord injury” in one of the prestigious rehab textbooks : ISCoS: Textbook on Comprehensive Management of Spinal Cord Injuries (2015) and author for the chapter on “Myelomeningocele and Other Spinal Dysraphisms” in Braddom’s Rehabilitation Care: A Clinical Handbook (2017) She is actively involved in research including basic science research related to Regenerative Medicine and clinical trials.

Dr. Poorani Anandakrishnan Dr Poorani Anandakrishnan joined Hospital Tunku Azizah (previously Woman and Children’s Hospital) Kuala Lumpur in January. She graduated from The National University of Ireland in 2002. After completing her housemanship training, she followed her passion joining the paediatric department in Hospital Tengku Rahimah Klang and Hospital Sungai Buloh.

She was awarded the membership to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health UK and went on to serve as general paediatrician in Hospital Temerloh, Pahang and Hospital Sungai Buloh. In the year 2017, she began her journey in paediatric neurology and completed her training in the famed T.Y. Nelson Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney Australia.

She has been involved in some research work when time permits and has presented a few papers and posters in Asia. Her research and passion lies in the fields of neuromuscular conditions and neuro-disabilities, and has other interest include movement disorders and neuro-immunology. She currently runs the paediatric Spina bifida, Neuromuscular disorders, Movement and Cerebral Palsy clinics in Hospital Tunku Azizah Kuala Lumpur. She is affiliated with the Malaysian Neuroscience Society, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health UK, Malaysian Paediatric Association, Wold Muscle Society and European Paediatric Neurology Society. She is working extensively with TREAT-NMD SMA Dataset Group UK and sitsin the panel of expertsfor the WHO Western Pacific Colloborative Global Network for Rare Disease (CGN4RD).

Dr. Poongkodi Nagappan is a Consultant Urologist at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Selangor, Malaysia. She graduated from University Malaya in 1999, completed her surgical and urological training in Malaysia, before leaving for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to develop her interest in Paediatric Urology. Dr Poongkodi Nagappan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

She had served at several medical institutions such as Pantai Hospital, Selayang Hospital, Melaka Hospital, KL Hospital and so on in her expertise field from 2000 to 2018 as a Urologist consultant. She been awarded twice by Ministry of Health Malaysia for her excellent service in Hospital Selayang in 2007 and 2017. Besides that, she have received many recognitions and awards in her professional field. She had several publications in her line too. Her active involvement locally and internationally in various projectsrelated to her professional is highly recognised.

Puan Nur Khalilatul Amla holds the Bachelor (Hons) of Occupational Therapy from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia since 2011. She is currently a Senior Occupational Therapist at Sunway Medical Centre, in charge of the Occupational Therapy Team. She is also a coordinator for Pediatric Rehabilitation and assists on rehabilitation services at Sunway Medical Centre.

Prior to her new involvement at Sunway Medical Centre, she had served in the government hospitals at related departments such as senior and paediatric occupational therapy and rehabilitation, sexual health rehabilitation, burn and hand rehabilitation, spinal rehabilitation, neuromedical/surgical rehabilitation.

Associate Professor Dr Nor Faizal Ahmad Bahuri obtained both the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Master in Surgery from the Universiti Malaya (UM). He holds a PhD in Neurosurgery from Oxford University, United Kingdom. He is currently a Consultant Neurosurgeon with expertise in craniofacial surgery, paediatric neurosurgery and interventional pain management.

Associate Professor Dr Nor Faizal Ahmad Bahuri is a passionate lecturer with 16 years of teaching experience to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He also has multiple administrative duties such as Head of Unit, Internal Examiner, Quality Manager, and Coordinator in the Faculty of Medicine, UM.

He was awarded with the Excellence of Service Award by UM in 2018 and Educational Travelling Award by the St Jude Paediatric Hospital, Memphis, USA, in 2019.

Dr. Muhammad Kamal Bin Muhammad Abdul Jamil is a lecturer and Orthopaedic surgeon in UKMMC, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz. His qualifications are M.D.(UKM) 2004, M.S. Orth (UKM) 2012 with Honorary fellow. He obtained his fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic (CHW, Sydney) from 2016-2018 and his PHD (USyd) in 2020. Besides that, he is a professional member of Malaysian Orthopaedic Association. Currently the head of unit for Paediatric Orthopaedic service which runs clinics, electives & emergency procedures and inpatient care for children and adolescents. He is active in research and have special interest in limb deformity.

Dr. Malini Mahalingam has been practicing paediatrics for the past 12 years and had majority of her training in Perak. She is currently completing her Paediatric Neurology training. She is passionate about improving care and services for children with disabilities and hopes to expand these services in Perak.

Dr. Shuhaila binti Ahmad is currently a senior consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz. She is also an
associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Currently, she is the head of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz. She is also responsible for the fellowship program and training in the MFM Unit.

Her undergraduate medical degree was from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1991. She pursued her postgraduate Masters degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1993 and graduated in 1997 from the same alma mater. She continued to further her subspecialty training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine from Queen’s Medical Center, Nottingham UK from 2003-2004.

Her specialization is in Maternal-Fetal Medicine with an interest in highrisk pregnancy, preterm labour, multiple pregnancies, prenatal screening
and diagnosis ultrasound scan in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Dr. Luvan Markandan, is currently a Paediatric Orthopaedics, limb lengthening and reconstruction and General Orthopaedic surgeon at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh since August 2019. He has served as a Head of Paediatric Orthopaedics Services subcommittee in Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2020. Apart from that, he has served as a Head of Department, Department of Paediatric Orthopaedics Sabah Women’s and Children’s Hospital from August 2014 – July 2019. Also a member of Subspecialty Education Subcommittee for Paediatric Orthopaedics in Malaysian Medical Council (2020).

He is a certified AO Trauma trainer, and AO paediatric orthopaedics trainer. He was the Honorary lecturer for the medical faculty of University Malaya Sabah in year 2016. He has been honored to be the peer reviewer for Paediatric Orthopaedic section of Malaysian Orthopaedic Journal. He is an active life member of Malaysian Medical Association, Malaysian Orthopaedic Association and Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Chee Geap Tay is currently is Consultant Paediatrician & Paediatric Neurologist in Sunway Medical Centre. He had completed his Master of Paediatric in 2011 from University of Malaya and done his fellowship in Paediatric Neuromuscular at Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre, University College London/Great Ormond Street Hospital, London from 2016-2017. His expertises are Paediatric nerve conduction study (NCS), Paediatric electromyography and quantitative analysis (quantitative EMG), Paediatric single finger electromyography(SFEMG), Paediatric open muscle biopsy, and Electroencephalography (EEG). He has done several research such as Paediatric Neuromuscular disorders including Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Spinal muscular atrophy, myasthenia, Paediatric peripheral neuropathy including chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy and many more. Dr Tay had successfully done 19 publications in his field.

As a recognition of his works, he had received 7 academic awardsfrom variousinstitutions. Beside that, some of his professionals affiliations would be life member of Malaysian Society of Neuroscience, Executive committee member of chapter of child neurology and developmental paediatrics, Malaysian Society of Neuroscience and Paediatric care provider for GBS/CIPD Foundation International in University Malaya Medical Centre from 22 February 2018.

Dr Brenda Saria Yuliawiratman currently works as a Consultant Rehabilitation Physician in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM and UKM Specialist Centre. She is active in teaching and in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and has given many talks and presented scientific publications at local and international conferences. Her main areas of interests are Neurorehabilitation, Musculoskeletal and Paediatric rehabilitation. She is a Certified Medical Impairment Assessor and is an active member in the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians (MARP). She is also currently the country ambassador for Malaysia for the International Society of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine World Youth Forum Task Force.

Dr Aishah binti Ahmad Fauzi is a Rehabilitation Physician at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). She has more than 8 years of experience in Rehabilitation Medicine practice and has special interests in paediatric rehabilitation as well as spinal cord injury rehabilitation.

She graduated from the University of Malaya with her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 2003 and Master of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2012. She had her housemanship in Hospital Kuala Lumpur and completed it at Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Klang.

She joined University Malaya as a trainee lecturer, and graduated with Master of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2012. She has been serving in UMMC until now, as well as Senior Lecturer under the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. In 2017, she received a travel fellowship program in Rehabilitation Medicine by the Korean Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (KARM), where she gained more expert training in paediatric rehabilitation.

Professor (Dr) Amaramalar Selvi Naicker is a consultant Rehabilitation Medicine Physician from Faculty of Medicine, University Kebangsaan Malaysia
(UKM) who works with people and animals with disabilities through rehabilitation to optimize healthcare and maximize quality of life .

Professor (Dr) Amaramalar Selvi Naicker is a consultant Rehabilitation Medicine Physician from Faculty of Medicine, University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She has been working in PPUKM since 2003 and has actively been involved in clinical work in several areas of rehabilitation like spinal cord injury, brain injury Peadiatric and Musculoskeletal rehabilitation to name a few. She has a special interest in Pediatric Rehabilitation and is the co- founder and President of Spina bifida association of Malaysia, an organization for children with spinal problems. She is also a passionate teacher and researcher and takes every opportunity to share and learn both locally and internationally. She has interests in both clinical and basic sciences researches and has made many contributions to the field of rehabilitation in the form of journal and book publications.

Being a strong proponent for community work, she continues her work in the society with several community groups and has been actively involved in Mercy Malaysia’s work with post disaster medical rehabilitation and capacity building in Nepal and has helped to bring together a team of rehab professionals interested in disaster rehabilitation to participate in Mercy Malaysia’s activities. Her interests are not just limited to people with disabilities but also to animals in similar situations too. She helps out at a local elephant conservatory to aid in prosthetic restoration for elephants who have undergone limb amputations due to injuries associated with being trapped in unscrupulous poachers snares.
